Some commonly asked questions...

Here at Manor Lodge we understand that moving to a residential home may be a big decision for whoever is leaving home, so we have put together a few questions that are commonly asked. If there are any further questions you have, feel free to email us or call 01395 266691

WILL I LOOSE MY INDEPENDENCE, FREEDOM AND DIGNITY?
You can be as independent as you like. You can see your friends, relatives, invite them in for tea, dinner or go out anytime you wish.
We do ask though that you let us know when you have left the building and the time of your expected return. This is only for your safety. Whatever time you return there is always someone, at home ready to offer you a warm welcome.

HOW MUCH PRIVACY CAN I EXPECT?
You have your own en-suite facilities and a call bell system that you can use when you require assistance. Private facilities are available to see your legal representative, financial advisor, social worker - in fact anyone you wish.

IF I BECOME ILL WILL YOU THROW ME OUT?
No. This is a time you will not be alone. We will call in Doctors, Nurses and take care of you until you are better. Often our staff can see if there is something brewing and are quick to treat the ailment or call in the necessary services.

WILL I BE BORED?
There is plenty to do and people to talk with if you choose, so we do not expect you will be bored.

HOW DO I CONTACT MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS?
You can have a phone fitted in your room or we have a mobile on which they can contact you.

WHAT CAN I BRING WITH ME?
Every thing is fully furnished, including a TV. All bedding and towels are supplied. You can bring furniture such as your bed or favourite chair, nik-naks, pictures or anything that reminds you of home, providing that it doesn't cause a dangerous obstruction in the room.

WHAT HAPPENS AT MEAL TIMES?
All our meals and cakes are home made. You can have an early morning beverage at any time, we then serve breakfast in bed. All other meals are served in the dining room or, if you prefer it, in your own room. We always have wine with our Sunday lunch. We serve morning coffee, afternoon tea, and an evening beverage. Beverages and snacks are always available, there are facilities for you to make your own or you can ask one of the staff at any time. Special diets are also catered for.
